Bupa

We took Russell to the emergency room because we thought he swallowed a toothpick. He had spilled a box of them on the floor, and in a brief moment of not watching him he started gagging and drooling excessively and altogether acting like he had choked on a toothpick. After various x-rays, pokings, proddings and a night in the hospital, nothing was found. He seems fine, and we're watching his poop to see if anything funny comes out. We are exhausted, but he seems to have already forgotten anything unusual happened. Here he is with his grandpa and a toy ambulance the driver of the real ambulance gave him during the trip from Alta Bates to Children's. Tip for new parents: The ability to spear cocktail wieners and pick gristle out from between your teeth on a moment's notice are not worth this.
